Sergeant John Crounse began his law enforcement career with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office by serving in corrections and community patrol through the Indio Sheriff’s Station. He was transferred to the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station where he served as a patrol Field Training Officer and School Resource Officer at Palm Desert High School. While serving as School Resource Officer he successfully initiated the “Palm Desert Youth Court Program”. This program was selected by the State of California to serve as a model for similar programs statewide. Sgt. Crounse was selected to serve in the position of Senior Deputy and received promotion to Investigator within the Palm Desert Station. As an Investigator his duties included leading the financial crimes and fraud division, investigating crimes against persons, property crimes and child abuse crimes. Promoted to Sergeant, he returned to the Indio Sheriff’s Station where he served as Patrol Watch Commander, Supervisor of the Field Training Program, Supervisor of the School Resource Officers within the Coachella Valley Unified School District and Supervisor of the Investigations Bureau. In January 2011, Sgt. Crounse was assigned to the position of Administrative Sergeant serving the citizens of La Quinta through the La Quinta Police Department.

Sergeant Crounse received his Associate Arts Degree from College of the Desert and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California Baptist University. Sergeant Crounse is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisor Leadership Institute. Sergeant Crounse has lived in the Coachella Valley his entire law enforcement career. He has two grown sons.
