Community Service Officer (C.S.O.) Fowler has been with the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for Six years following a twenty-three year career of public service in the private sector. After being assigned to the Indio station, C.S.O. Fowler attended and graduated from the Riverside County Sheriff*s Community Service Officer training program.
C.S.O. Fowler was then assigned to patrol duty for the City of La
Quinta as a Public Safety Officer. While assigned to patrol, C.S.O.
Fowler was the recipient of the CAL-ID *5 Hits* award for successfully collecting fingerprint evidence and identifying suspects
through that database. C.S.O. Fowler served as the *Volunteer
Liaison* during the establishment of the Community Policing Office and the La Quinta volunteer program. C.S.O. Fowler has completed training as a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician as well as a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (C.P.T.E.D.) Technician. C.S.O.
Fowler is currently assigned to the City of La Quinta as the Community
Program Coordinator.
Reflecting the La Quinta Police Departments commitment to "Community Oriented Policing", the position of Community Program Coordinator was established to serve as a liaison between La Quinta Police Department and the citizens of La Quinta.
Officers assigned to serve as Community Program Coordinator have been recognized as having strong skills in interpersonal relationships, planning and organization, research and analysis, writing and composition, as well as being comfortable in public speaking. Based on his or her proven work ethic, the Community Program Coordinator carries out the duties of the assignment with minimum direct supervision.
Typical duties of the Community Program Coordinator include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Research and compilation of multiple monthly reports.
2. Research and compose articles for publication and distribution.
3. Research and compile statistical reports, as requested, for specific neighborhoods within the community.
4. Conduct crime prevention programs, meetings and classes.
5. Work with concerned neighborhoods to establish Neighborhood Watch programs.
6. Represent the La Quinta Police Department at community meetings, Home Owners Association meetings, community sponsored safety events and professional organizations.
