CAPTAIN RODNEY VIGUE
Chief of Police
Captain Vigue, a 23-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, is
a graduate of the FBI National Academy and holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal
Justice from Chapman University. Captain Vigue's law enforcement background includes
experience in corrections, patrol, investigations and SWAT operations.
Captain Vigue began his career in law enforcement while serving in the United States
Marine Corps as a Military Policeman. In 1985 he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff and
assigned to the Blythe Station where he served as a patrol deputy until he was promoted
to investigator in 1991. Following his promotion he was assigned to the Special
Investigations Bureau in Riverside. In 1993 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant
and returned to Blythe Station. In 1998 he was transferred to the Indio Station
where he worked as a patrol watch commander and supervised the investigations section.
In 2002, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Palm Desert Station.
During his tenure at the Palm Desert Station, Captain Vigue managed patrol operations,
administration and was the liaison for the contract cities of Indian Wells and Rancho
Mirage. In 2008 Captain Vigue assumed his duties as the Indio Station Commander
and the Chief of Police for the City of La Quinta.
Captain Vigue is a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, the National Tactical
Officers Association, and is a charter member of the California Association of Tactical
Officers. Captain Vigue further serves his community as an Adjunct Faculty member
at College of the Desert, where he instructs segments of the firearms and chemical
agent curriculum for the Public Safety Academy.
