Lieutenant Andy Martinez has been with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years. Lieutenant Martinez was first assigned to the Indio Station, now Thermal Station, where he worked patrol operations in the cities of La Quinta, Coachella and unincorporated areas of the eastern Coachella Valley. During this assignment, Lieutenant Martinez served on the Coachella Community Action Team and as a representative of Coachella on the Coachella Valley Violent Crimes Gang Task Force.
In January of 2012, Lieutenant Martinez was promoted to the rank of Investigation and remained at the Indio Station where worked an array of cases within the categories of crimes against persons and crimes against property. In August of 2013, Lieutenant Martinez was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and transferred to the Palm Desert Station where he was assigned to patrol operations, and later selected for assignments as the City of Palm Desert’s Administrative Sergeant and the Palm Desert Stations Investigations Bureau supervisor.
In September of 2019, Lieutenant Martinez was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to the contract city of Coachella. In December of 2021, Lieutenant Martinez was reassigned to the city of La Quinta. As a Lieutenant, his primary role is to oversee and manage law enforcement services, while finding opportunities to enhance the delivery, improve the quality of life for city residents and visitors, and reduce crime.
Lieutenant Martinez possesses a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Accountancy degree. Lieutenant Martinez has been a life-long resident of the Coachella Valley with his wife of 12 years and 3 children.
