Sergeant George Acevedo

Sergeant George Acevedo is a fourteen-year veteran of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He began his career in 2006 and was assigned to the Indio Station. He worked in the cities of La Quinta, Coachella, and the unincorporated county areas.

In September 2008, he was assigned to the Coachella Action Team and was nominated as "Police of the Year.” In 2010, he received a “Proclamation Award,” a “State of California Certificate of Recognition,” and a “Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition” at the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Peace Officer and Public Safety Awards.” In March 2011, he was assigned to the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force. In 2013, he was nominated for “Case of the Year” at the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Peace Officer and Public Safety Awards. In September 2013, he was assigned to Coachella Special Investigations. In May 2016, he was assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team. In January 2018, he was assigned to the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force. In February 2019, he was promoted to Sergeant within the Thermal Station and worked the cities of La Quinta, Coachella, and the unincorporated county areas where he supervised patrol functions. In June 2019, he was assigned collateral duties with the Palms Springs Narcotics Task Force/DEA. In October 2020, he was assigned to the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team.

Sergeant Acevedo possess a bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education and Development and is in pursuit of a master’s degree in Management and Leadership. He is married with four children. Sergeant Acevedo and his family reside in the Coachella Valley.
